Description

This coin is authentic and circulated during the time of Jesus Christ. This coin, which was struck under the rulership of Alexander Jannaeus in Judea, is the coin most commonly known as the poor widow's mite, mentioned at Mark 12 : 41-44. The original Greek text referred to it as the Lepton, and it was the smallest denomination coin that was in circulation in Jerusalem during Jesus' lifetime. It is believed that the Lepton was the lowest denomination coin ever minted by any nation in history! Most Leptons were crudely struck and off center, and as they circulated for a long period of time.

Excellent for giving or keeping for one's own collection. You can use this coin as an effective Bible study aid when giving the story of the poor widow. Absolutely a one of a kind piece!

Certificate of authenticity included.
